I had a chance to go behind the scenes to see what was happening at the Met during the lockdown, and how it prepared to reopen, for NPR. It was incredible, and also quite emotional to see this majestic place dark, without any people.

The museum finally reopened in August 2020, after five long months of closure. Go, if you can. It is a breath of fresh air—a much needed break from this difficult moment.
