My family moved to Rhode Island in 2021—and this piece for Marketplace was my very first from the state. As a second generation Syrian American—my mother’s family came to the U.S. from Aleppo—I was very excited to report on Aleppo Sweets, a restaurant in Providence that is owned and run by a family of Syrian refugees—who also come from Aleppo.
